Automakers snag major role at Oscars
02.27.05 (1:49 pm)   [edit]
They use annual awards ceremony to show off their newest vehicles.

By Ann Job / Special to The Detroit News

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- In a town where image is everything, automakers have been showing off their best going into tonight's Oscar awards ceremony, hoping a little Tinseltown glitter rubs off.

Most auto companies are focused on the public exposure that comes with putting their newest vehicles in front of some of the most influential opinion makers in American culture.

But the three biggest automakers -- GM, Ford and Toyota -- hope to meet even more ambitious goals.

General Motors Corp. wants to restyle its image, especially in trend-conscious California, where the company's market share last year was 16.9 percent, 8 percentage points lower than its national average.

Exhibit space going quickly for 19th Annual Carquest Motorsports Expo
02.24.05 (7:18 pm)   [edit]
by Ted Schmidt
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The 19th annual edition of Carquest Motorsports Expo is beginning to take shape as race teams, speedways, sanctioning bodies, and vendors are making final plans and reserving exhibit space in New York State’s largest racing themed exposition. Confirmed entries have been coming into the show office in near record numbers and show organizers report that nearly all of the available display space has been reserved with only a few available spots remaining available. It is expected that those spots will be filling up quickly, so it is essential for those planning on being a part of New York State‘s largest racing themed exposition to secure exhibit space as soon as possible.

The 2005 edition of Carquest Motorsports Expo is slated for the weekend of March 11-13th, 2005. Located just off the backstretch of the historic Moody Mile, the Cargill Exhibition Hall will once again play host to Carquest Motorsports Expo.
