Restoring and showing cars a hobby at OMTD

GRANBY - One of the biggest attractions for the 22nd annual Old Mining Town Days was the Highway 60 Car Show, held last Saturday.

More than 75 cars and trucks ranging from the early 1900s to today were on hand at the show.

Owners of the vehicles started showing up at 8 a.m. at the Dick Smith Park. As they parked their vehicles, the fist thing they did was to clean up their vehicles and await for spectators to view the vehicles.

"There is a lot of hard work that go into these cars," said Hershel Tanner of Granby, who was sporting a black 1951 Kaiser car.

Tanner has had his 1951 Kaiser for about 15 years.

"I worked for Kaiser Steel in Eagle Mountain, Calif. for 12 years," Tanner said. "Now the town is a ghost town."

One day, after moving back to Granby, he went looking around at yard sales.
